Best advice from a 6 yo kid

I was once sad and teary-eyed when my daughter came closer and gave me a hug. Then, she said:

"Hayaan mo na lang po Mom, wag mo na lang isipin yun. Pag naiiyak ka, naiiyak din ako eh! Ang isipin mo na lang is magkasama tayo."
("Let it be Mom, don't think about it anymore. It makes me cry too when I see you cry. Just remember that we're here together.")

So instead of giving in to cry, I smiled. I was surprised to hear complete set of Tagalog sentences from her plus it was so meaningful that it really touched my heart. I almost melt. I'm so thankful that in a way, she somehow understands situations in LIFE. Hays, I wish that she continue to grow as sweet and understanding as she is now.

I am so thankful of having you my dear KEANNA. And did I say Mommy is so proud of you too? Hugs to you my dearest, you're the BEST! Mwah!

Finding my way...

to learn more of Photoshop, haha! Wish I have a little more time.

I just know very little of photo editing or in Photoshop. Keanna was in the mood for a photo shoot last Sunday and asked me to take a LOT of pics of her wearing different outfits haha! How Kikay right? Model wannabee eh?! I have this 8 pcs of pink cartolina I taped together, the same BG we used before in our mom&daughter photo in WM mag. Here's the original background...faded already..really needed editing.

Aside from the little time I have for this, I have forgotten how to extract (if that's what you call it) the picture. Waaah! So, these are few of the pics that I was able to edit the BG.

Kwela Keanna

We were about to leave yest (Me, K & Mama) when Keanna saw his Daddy's wallet. The wallet showcases (haha) the thick bonus Daddy got and I whispered something to Keanna.. Mommy: "Keanna, go ask Daddy few peso for the cab". Keanna: "Daddy, that's plenty...can I ask some?". Daddy: "Okay, take it all (handing her all of it)..hehe!" Keanna: "Yaikks! That's too many, I need 4 pcs of P500. It's enough for a cotton candy!" Daddy: Hahaha! Cotton Candy for 2K?We all ended laughing when Daddy gave her P100 in the end. LoL. Silly moment!

This is her new art work. Inspired by the kites she saw at the Rizal Park when we visited Manila Ocean Park. I was out when Mama got curious why Keanna is so quiet upstairs (normally you'd hear her talking, reading or singing). She called out Keanna to go down but as if she wasn't heard at all. So, she decided to go up quietly just to take a peek of Keanna and saw that the little girl is coloring her butterfly. Keanna has already attached a string to her little kite but she can't make it fly so she decided to just wear it like this...

Keanna voted for her fave Sarah Geronimo and Charice Pempengco.

Thank Yous

Keanna was given the chance to be part of KIDSTIME Magazine's maiden issue. It may not yet be out in the market but we're all excited about it. We all know that she was a little sick that day of the photoshoot but she was professional enough to show up and followed the instructions given to their batch. It was indeed a successful shoot and their batch finished in no time. Now, KIDSTIME have just uploaded a video composed of pictures of their young talents and Keanna is so happy to see her face in it! Haha! Talk about "child at heart"! She was as excited as Mommy and Mama (Lola). Here's her photo that got included in the video (c/o Camera Shake's photographer)...
To watch the full video, you can visit the multiply site of KIDSTIME. Enjoy watching and congrats to all our friends too.

We would like to thank KIDSTIME of course for allowing our daughter Keanna to be part of their upcoming issue, maiden issue to be exact. It is our pleasure to see that she has been included in the roster of cute kids and talents. Keep it up guys! Good luck !

We're hoping for more opportunities like this to come. Keanna is all better now and that's another blessing we'd like to be thankful for.
We are sending our Thank Yous up above. HE indeed is great!

KEANNA is ALL OK now

I felt relief, whew! I'll be so confused and will definitely blame myself if she's still not better. She had the strange "sinat" last Friday and was even asked by her Teacher to go home instead but she declined. Then she was okay until Saturday dawn. Then, since it was the photoshoot day, I talked to her. A stagemom and a frustrated model myself, I am honestly excited for my daughter. I'd love to drag her and attend the photoshoot. But, it isn't me, and she's not in the pinkest of health. We had a talk. I explained to her the pros and cons. I saw how she has anticipated this day. I've seen the eagerness in her to feel better and show up at the Camera Shake studio. She finally decided to go for the shoot but of course since there's this "sinat", medicine was given. Off to the shoot we go and she was a little less hyper than the kids there but she did good.

In fact, their batch was done in less than 20 mins if I'm not mistaken. I'm proud of my daughter's
accomplishment and so gave in to her request.

She had the train and another ride on solo!

I was to bring her to her Pedia after the shoot but...toinks! "Mommy, it's a Saturday today!" OMG!
We fetched her cousin Kate after the shoot. Sunday wad Banky's party, the two girls had been anticipating this event too. It was so sweet of Ate Kate to have prayed for Keanna's fast recovery. We've met Mommy Vanj and Sam in front of the church and headed to Shakey's in T.Morato Ave. The kids had a real blast. Keanna politely joined the first few games but stayed beside me for the rest of the party. She smiled, laughed and giggled and played for few minutes then rested again beside Mommy.

We're off to her Pedia after the party then to my OB, in the same clinic. She was given antibiotics and Salbutamol instead of Carboceistine. Her cough is more on asthma since there's no phlegm. No phlegm means hard coughing. And she was feeling the chest pain. It was hard to see her in a state like that.
Monday, she asked me to send and fetch her from school. I agreed but her temp got high and I decided to let her skip class since there's not much to do. A mass was held that day and the regular review classes for this week's Unit Test. We reviewed at home instead. I am glad that even if she was not feeling well, she was still very cooperative. Tuesday was a little hard. I have a commitment to attend to and Mama is not feeling well. Keanna still has slight fever but she eats, she talks, she even sang a Backyardigan song. I decided to tag her along then headed to her Pedia again. It was explained to me that since we only started the antibiotics Sunday night, it will only show its effect Wednesday morning at least. I have to monitor her BT and make sure that the medicines are given in the right dose and at the right time. I was absent, asked for an emergency leave. That cost me 1 VL credit but it is alright, just as long as I am sure that Keanna will get well and that I am close by her side. I am thankful that this early morning (3am), there's no more fever. Coughing is no longer that hard. I was only able to sleep 330am and woke up again at 6am. I still had her skip school, 3rd day it is. She missed 2 days of Unit Test now. A special test will be given, of course. Who knows, she might be able to take all four tests she skipped Tues and Wed.

Tomorrow will be another day and I am glad that she's already jolly right this minute. Thank GOD for making her feel all better. Recovery from weight loss will be a little hard, I know but we'll deal with that...together.

Keanna made Mommy cry

I've been seeing this commercial for a while and I am very pleased with it. I love the music and the lovely kids as well.

It was my off, I was in front of the computer yet the TV was on for Keanna's PDA kids when this TVC aired. I stopped (stoned, honestly) and was shocked when I heard Keanna singing it. She knows the lyrics! She perfected the lyrics on this one, to my surprise! She faced me afterwards and again sang. She said: "this is for you Mommy"

I am so stressed with a LOT of things but this video, Keanna's song and her kiss (after singing it) made my day so special, pawi lahat ng stress..

Keanna =stresstabs

She made me cry...

And in return, since I know she loves to sing..I looked for her new fave "Big Girls Don't cry" and for this video too.

I love you anak...kisses from me.

Tula para sa Linggo ng Wika

Ang Laki Sa Layaw

Pag-ibig anaki'y aking nakilala

Keanna will once again join the Filipino Declamation contest on August 22. The Linggo ng Wika declamation contests (for Grade school) of Marian School of QC will be held at the school grounds in the morning and HS students will show off their talents in acting later in the afternoon.

Time will tell

Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived; happiness, sadness, knowledge, and all the others, including love.

One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared their boats to leave. Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to preserve the island paradise until the last possible moment. When the island was almost totally under, Love decided it was time to leave. She began looking for someone to ask for help.

Just then Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love asked, "Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?"
Richness answered, " I'm sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and there would be no room for you anywhere."
Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful vessel.
Love cried out, "Vanity, help me please."

"I can't help you", Vanity said, "You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat."
Next, Love saw Sadness passing by.
Love said, "Sadness, please let me go with you."
Sadness answered, "Love, I'm sorry, but, I just need to be alone now."
Then, Love saw Happiness.

Love cried out, " Happiness, please take me with you."
But Happiness was so overjoyed that he didn't hear Love calling to him. Love began to cry.

Then, she heard a voice say, "Come Love, I will take you with me." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived on land the elder went on his way. Love realized how much she owed the elder.

Love then found Knowledge and asked, "Who was it that helped me?"
"It was Time", Knowledge answered.
"But why did Time help me when no one else would?", Love asked.

Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered,
"Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

She's 8 and like a daughter to me too. And just like Keanna and even before my dawty, she aspired to be a model too. I brought her to Adtraxx for a file VTR where Keanna had her chance as well. She had a lot of audition and VTR calls from Adtraxx but it is either they have previous engagements on the same date the audition was set or the family is out of town. Her mom, Esmeeh (my cuz) kept asking me when will she be "casted" or featured in a mag too.. Well, I don't know...I told her to wait. HE knows when is the right time.

First time, first pic submitted, and she got included in Milestones section of Momstoday. And Esmeeh got so excited of the prizes..hehe! To find out, she will be passing some of the tokens to our nephew Vin Ethienne.

a Proposal

Of course, I'm sure we remember how a boy stole a kiss from Keanna...here's another story. This one made us laugh so hard.

The other day, just before we're ready for Keanna's Taekwondo class, she told me a story behind the reason why from 34 students, they're now down to 33. She told me that Rico, one of her classmates and ka-service will be migrating to the US already.

Mommy: Why? Okay nga yun, if given the chance, bakit naman ayaw mo?
(toinks again!)
Mommy: Hmmm...malaki ang USA anak..unites states nga di ba? Look at the map.
(pointing
to the map behind our door) Hindi natin alam kung saan sila Rico dyan.
Mommy: (Carried her to my lap) Okay, bakit ka naman inaasar ni Rico?Anong sinasabi nya?
Keanna: Sabi po nya sa akin dati (she was laughing while saying this).."do you marry
me?"
tapos iki-kiss nya ako..

Mommy: What? (not again!)
Keanna: Opo Mommy, mali yung sinabi nya di ba? ehehehe!
Mommy: hehe! Wrong grammar anak pero what did you answer and do nung nag-attempt sya
to
kiss you?
Keanna: I said NO! then itinulak ko yung face nya palayo (may re-enactment pa yun).
Mommy: Anak, hindi dapat mananakit ha..pero good thing you said NO. Good that you're
telling me all these.
ha?

My Mama was just sitting near us and we all ended laughing. Bigla na naman naikwento ni Mama that when I was in Kinder, a boy gave me a ring and I throwed it away 'coz I don't like him haha!

When Daddy woke up, I told him the story and he ended laughing too.

Sana lang ma-guide pa rin namin sya kasi hindi naman natin malalaman what happens outside the house unless they tell us right? I just wish that my Keanna continue that habit na hindi sya mag-doubt na hindi ko sya maiintindihan at sana she would tell me everything. Ang bilis ng panahon...

Warp it creatively

I found a "Math notebook" listed in Keanna's school supplies list..Wow! A math notebook for a 1st grader?
I cannot find something that doesn't have a spring on it so decided to stitch it instead...

I was about to wrap it with the plastic cover when I noticed that it isn't "inviting" for my grade 1 kiddo. An idea lit up!

I grabbed one colored paper, some tape and a cutie sticker too.
Then,

this is what I have accomplished...

SAHM Project: Cologlitter it! (May 15)

I was at 168 Mall with Ched sometime last week and bought some stuff to be use in out TL's outfit or should I call it costume..that's for AT&T 4th Anniversary Firece Party on May 18. And of course, since I seldom go there, any mom would take advantage of great stuff you can find there for a cheap price.
Anyway, along with other personal stuff we bought was 2 framed girl drawings.

Got these for only P25 each (or P20, argh! memory gap, sorry!).
It came with 4pc pack of colored glitter glue.

Found it interesting so this is our May 15 entry to

Here's what we have accomplished.

Keanna's finished artwork.

Mine

Keanna and I had fun doing it.

We can have the frames replaced since it is detachable.

Cheap but fun-to-do and cute decors right?

Tooth Talk

The belief of a Tooth fairy originated in the US. It is another example of American folklore mythology just like Santa Claus and Easter Bunny, accdg to Wikipedia. =D

There were several rituals that kids in the US do in belief of the existence of a Tooth fairy in exchange of their tooth that fell off, most are coins, banknote or a present. Typically, children hides the lost tooth under their pillow and the tooth fairy will come while they're asleep leaving them with presents in replacement of the tooth. Others, leaves the tooth in a glass of water finding a coin or a gift when they wake up in the morning.

I have blogged about Keanna's set of baby teeth before on her own account:

http://keannasteffi.multiply.com/journal/item/18/Getting_myself_ready

Then came February, Keanna lost her tooth for the first time while straw drinking a shake last January 25. That was after our DOI experience. There was no pain, and no blood too. She was all excited about it. Just look at this and you'll see....

Now, she lost her two front teeth already. The first one fell off accidentally causing blood and tears from her. She was dancing and teasing her grand mama, was bumping her butt to Mama while she moved her hand towards her face. Unconscious of the speed and strength of her hand movement, she accidentally hit her mouth right to that tooth. The tooth that I always refer or call as the tooth who shouts "take me out pls!", haha!

1st front tooth resigned, April 5,2008

The second front tooth she lost last Saturday (April 12) when we were at McDonald's SM City NE. She was (again) straw drinking. History repeats itself as they always say, and again there's no pain or even a drop of blood. The tooth inserted itself on the tip of the straw and dropped in Keanna's palm. We ended up laughing. I still smile up to now when I remember when she asked me if she's still cute without her 2 front teeth.Of course, Mom ako eh, I said YES...

And because of that, she can still smile confidently..haha!

So does the Tooth fairy has anything to do with Keanna since it is less practiced here in the Philippines? Yes, there is. I told her of the Tooth Fairy rituals in the US and that we have our own rituals too. The only thing I can remember is that you have to throw your tooth upwards if it came from the lower part and bury if it came from the upper part. A friends told me that there's also a ritual wherein you are to say something like a chant for the mouse to hear..haha! Whatever!

Keanna's first permanent tooth (lower part) showed up already and so as her (permanent) far left molar. It is important to take care of our teeth and that is one of my frustrations...having a good set of teeth. I'm hating chocolate bars whenever I remember how I lost my two front teeth. Oh pls don't ask me how and why..geeezzz! I still love chocolates though! haha!

Anyway, I'd like Keanna's set to be as beautiful as possible. It would definitely a help in building a confident individual. At least, unlike Mommy here, she'll confidently look her best. I wanna teach her (am I sure it's me who's gonna do this?) how to keep her teeth and gums healthy. And these are just few steps to follow:

* Brush at least twice a day ( but I want her to get used to 3x a day brushing)

* Let her eat lots of fruits and vegetables and drink water instead of soda.

* Learn how to floss.

* Visit the Dentist twice a year.

and of course, not to forget to .....

Smile!

Cousins

Keanna Steffi and Alyza Juztyne are first cousins... Born the same year of 2002.. Year of the Horse (they both know that, hehe) AJ was just a month older than Keanna... She was born June 24 and Keanna, July 23... These are their pics when they were just 5 mos and 4 mos old respectively...

In these pics, most people think they are twins wherein the other is a little smaller.

I myself, if possible, I wanna see them grow up together and be close to each other as mush as possible. I think, even if they are just cousins, these little girls are both lucky to have each other. Best friends, playmates and cousins rolled into one..that's what I want them to be.

If only AJ lives near us, I'm sure they'll be inseparable.
